Control Stands

We have two sets of control stands, numbered: Red 101 – 270 and Blue 101 – 250 which may be used by any Club.

While planning courses you may find it easier to use just the last two digits until ready to print control descriptions.

All the above Stands are fitted to take Sportident Stations and have one pin punch.

Most of the Blue stands need rubber bands to hold any SI station in place.

All the stands need rubber bands to hold the smaller red SI stations in place.

Please ensure the bands do not hide the signal light or obstruct the tagging socket.

About another 50 stands have pin punches only:

431 – 480 have single punches, except 450 and 461 which each have two.

If any stand is found faulty, eg a loose punch, please leave a large tape hanging obviously from it to attract repair.

In April 2008 control Sportident Stations (SI “box tops” or “bricks”) 101 –149 were permanently programmed with those numbers, and if used in “Training mode” will switch on when first tagged and remain on for about an hour after last tag.  This saves programming them before each event, and also saves the batteries which are only used after the first tag.

More stations’ will be modified to work like this.

So it’s sensible to use at least controls numbered 101 – 149 at every event when SI controls are needed.
